The list of "unpleasant tasks" has been reduced to only one A4 page. The module is slowly coming together. I really hope I'll keep at it and be able to start alpha-testing soon. :)
Probably bad news for the Raze lovers - I decided to make him more decent and withdrawn to contrast Brash! Arana relationship should be a bit slow, too, considering what she's been through. So, having Brash back should bring chaos to the situation, as he is the most, err... "advanced" of the romance options, as far as getting into the demonheart girl's pants goes. :S

Thanks for all the hard work Lamb! Good luck with work and classes. Waiting for the new chapter with bated breath. ;D
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. Can't wait to play it once you finish completing it! And as much as I liked Raze, I think you made the right move in making him have a more of a different personality than Brash. That way both characters would be more unique.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, speaking of Brash, I am sure he will definitely make his presence known once he meets up with the PC once again!
Again, can't wait! Thanks again for the hard work on the module and the continued updates.
Sounds awesome. I personally think I'll like Raze more the new way. :D Being more reserved also fit with whatever Raze has been through. Some people might get more aggressive, others clam up and keep their feelings to themself. Which fits more with him being an intelligent and cunning (wizard) person, than one relying on brute strengh (even though I've forgotten what his str stat is). And reserved and decent still works with snarky and a huge ego. :P Keep up the good work and thanks for sine awesome mods. :D
ReplyDeleteBrash is my favorite character, but you might already remember that :D. No one must conflict with Brash-sama!
ReplyDeleteBrash-sama! :D
DeleteBut... you know that romance conflicts seem to be most romance authors' favorite part? I remember some advice for Baldur's Gate modders - don't write your Anomen conflicts before the romance itself. Apparently, people love writing them.
I also love when PC has an option to bash someone, even when it's a character I'm supposed to love.
Conflicts add to the drama and gives an author a chance to get more in-depth with his/her characters. I played lots of Baldur's Gate mods and some where designed so that the world didn't notice you had like...15 lovers and half of them praised your virtues ^^
DeleteBesides, it's something we deal with at least once in our own lives, so why not out pixel-alter ego? :)
It must be difficult writing a new character for BG, when there are more fanmade NPCs to watch out for than original campaign ones. At least you don't have to play 15 times to see them all. :D
DeleteProbably bad news, nah I think you know what you're doing :D Gosh, I can't wait for chapter 2 so it's nice to hear from it's progress but take all the time that you need for it. Also good luck with whatever it is you're doing :3
ReplyDeleteps. I love the Demonheart modules and the characters are awesome...especially Raze :P
Yay, I'm glad to see this is active. I want to continue saying "lol" every time Brash behaves like an asshole lol.
ReplyDeleteone page of A4..sounds intimidating.. but then it depends on how large your writing is? ;)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I hope your writing font is fairly large.
Overly similar characters = not as flexible storywise (IMO) so good luck with the tweaking.
It's size 11 font, pretty dense. :D But that doesn't really say much about the amount of work.
Delete"But that doesn't really say much about the amount of work." - Indeed. For instance I have a note somewhere that says "I should make a game or at least a mod." It's a lot of work for only one sentence - and it means I've done nothing, not even deciding between making a standalone or a mod for an existing game. You on the other end have made excelent mods already and seem to have it all well planned :) Go Lamb!
DeleteI've always admired people who have an ability to create their own amazing worlds. Thank you for your excellent work and I hope to see more in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be very..interesting, when Brash show up again. I already worry for my PC. I played her as such a polite sweetheart (on her way to cynicism sadly), with a weird unexplainable (fatal) attraction to Brash. So she somehow can't make herself hate him even when she wants to. It's going to mess her up big time when he comes back. She is really going to need a hug or two in chapter 2. :) Keep up the fantastic work. :D
ReplyDeleteYeah - I'm also waiting for the Brash (my fav character). I created two charaters - one is rather neutral and she has a soft spot for Brash, another one - cheeky, smart - she's for Raze :3 And of course she hates Brash's guts.
DeleteI cross my fingers and wish you luck, Lamb!
Really loved Raze in the first part so hope he don't change from that. But probably wont notice a personality change as he never did seem to be interested to get into the dh's pants at that time.
ReplyDeleteArana going slow sounds great, I count that little bath flirt to the usual thrill of surviving an action packed day more than any romantic feelings.
Brash is bound to be fun but I will have a hard time to create a character that would actually fall for him. Bet it will be well worth the effort though!
Just wondering, is there any incentive to play bard or is there gonna be further down the line, in chapter 2 maybe?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that bard is a slightly poorer version of the rogue class.
There should be something for bards in chapter 3, but I guess not much. I just like singing, that's why the class is allowed...
DeleteI actually loved the concept you designed for bard. The mentioned potential of a bard learning magic in the future is an exciting prospect, but even if she never does, it's such a neat combination of art and stab.
DeleteI was replaying ch 1 today and it reminded me of a small question: Are we ever going to find out the story behind the brush? Or is it a secret?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, with it being a secret, everyone can imagine whatever suits them. If I tell you who left the brush, you might not like it :D
DeleteTrue, I like the secret behind it. I like to think it was Fisher (sorry if I got the name wrong - thinking about the old soldier in the camp) as he is so protective of our demonheart girl :)
DeleteAnd the best part is - like you said - everyone can imagine what best suits their protagonist :)
I always thought Brash left for the DH girle, not sure why but unless told otherwise that is that I'll keep imaginin =)
DeleteHope all is going well, Lamb. Is it too early to ask if you've got an estimate for the release date? I understand if you'd rather not give a date, modules can be ridiculously fickle.
ReplyDeleteFirst I thought I wouldn't even dare to answer this comment, but after looking at the list of things to finish, I can say a month or two (including the non-public testing).
DeleteGreat news! Will any of the stuff I wrote make the final cut?
DeleteI'll have to sort that out later and probably cut the side quests, but the conversations with Wilde and the merchants are in the module.
Deleteoh shit ! is it finally gonna be out ?! i thought i will be more like from SC to SC 2
ReplyDeleteor even HL3 lol
One thing I can't figure out is how did you manage to do a class restriction system on character creation? You have it set so Bard, Fighter, and Rogue are the only three choices. This is something I'd like to duplicate in my own mods. Is it a script, and if so, what is the name?
ReplyDeleteIt's the file classes.2da, located in a hak that has "top" in its name. It has a column "PlayerClass" where I guess I put 0s for all the classes I didn't want allowed. I think I also renamed Wizard to Witch and who knows what else. There were also other class-related 2da files I modified, all should be in the top hak. It's safest to extract 2da files from the official campaign or cep if you use it, and *then* mess them up. :)
