Update

Here is an updated Brash. We tried to make him look like the portrait. He still needs some details, like a damned sword. :P Raze still needs his modifications, too. Background images have been progressing faster than characters.

Soon, there will be a game demo, featuring the only characters illustrated. :D (Okay, probably only Orchid and Brash.) I hear developers always regret publishing their funny placeholder graphics and that I shouldn't do it. It's a pity, because my Sir Jarlan is hilarious. xD

  1. Wow, this blew me away. The previous version it took me a good 10 seconds of staring to realize that was Brash. This one is perfect. It really feels his persona has been captured here. That smirk!

Thank you for your hard work!

  5. Yeah, this looks pretty great. It brings back the story from the modules for me, the way the story all worked. I didn't check this page in ages, so I missed your last big announcement.

It'll be interesting how this new game turns out. Story is story, so it'll either be captivating or something else. I'd say the sex scenes added a lot to the setting of previous version of the game. The grittiness, the characters. Brash especially. Without that, then he's just a dishonest, betraying dirtbag. And not the lecherous rapist? Probably not the same Brash then.

I think sex was a bit part of who Brash was. I'm not sure about the other characters, since there wasn't really that much sex to them anyway, in the modules. Mostly it was all about Brash and the young demonheart, at least in the early game. The story might have branched out to other characters. That was the promise. I was really wanting to start a relationship with Arana, from what I remember.

I liked the NWN modules though. The fighting and exploring. I think the new version of the game could be something worth playing, but it'll come down to what kind of story there is. How well it comes across. If you get it right, then I can see people flocking to it. And see you making other games, building on the lore and characters. That's somewhat exciting. So, I'm curious how this demo will play. I really hope the story shines, lamb. No sex or fade-to-black sex is OK, if the rest of the story is compelling. Let's hope.

  6. This new Brash looks absolutely great! You can just sense his wildness from his expression. I'll be looking forward to your demo :)

  7. Not to be a downer, and I'm not making this comment to discourage you, Lamb, but I'm a little hesitant to get excited about this new project. Part of the charm of the modules was that, from beginning to end, it was all us doing everything. The immersion and involvement came from being the one to take every single step, overcome all the challenges, explore out of the way locations, and eventually, be molested, or do something kinky. It was an adventure, from start to finish. With a visual novel, thooough.. I just don't feel like there's going to be much immersion. Won't be much of an adventure. It'll just be reading a book. A book with a bunch of endings, and branching paths to choose from, sure- but it won't feel like I'm involved in any way. You can write about all the same encounters, and get pretty detailed with it- but once someone acknowledges that the event is scripted, and they really aren't bringing much to the table here beyond clicking the odd choice button here and there, the magic's kind of gone.. Like I said, I'm not trying to discourage you- I guess I'm just hoping that by bringing your attention to this potential lack of immersion, you'll find a way around it. I'unno. I'm still keeping an eye on this, either way.

    1. Yes, that's part of what's been giving me writer's block. How do I make the player feel like he/she is the one progressing the story... I want everything to be perfect and keep getting stuck.

  9. Well, I have to ask the most important of questions: will we find out in this game who left the hairbrush in the camp? xP

    1. The fabled hairbrush and Raze's mysterious tail! :D

But if I tell you... I think everyone will be disappointed, even those who were hoping it was that character. Wouldn't you rather live your whole life not knowing who left the brush?

    2. The hairbrush could be left even by that ugly rapist fella (and I don't mean Brash), none of my DH girls took it anyway, just in case. xD
      But I wanna knooow!
Of course if you don't want to tell then don't.
      I will cope with it.
      ...somehow.

Good luck with the game, I can't wait to play it. ^^

    3. Suuuuuper late to the party, but when you click on Brash in chapter onee to get a description of him, iirc it mentions something about him having neat or brushed hair or something like that, so I always figured it was him leaving the hairbrush for the DH girl, maybe something simple to contribute to her comfort a little? Just a guess though!
