Update

Hey everyone, I just want to say we had to change the character artist for someone more available, and all that took more time than intended and so on. :) Can't make a demo or promo video featuring art from the artist who doesn't have the time to continue with DH. (Note to self: don't try to hire friends again.)

Since I already got your approval for Brash's and Raze's face, they won't be changed, but they will have new or edited bodies. We also have Ari/Arana now.

The plans keep changing because I'm unsatisfied with where I cut the plot from the modules and how the game is going to end. It's better that I do less announcing and more work on the game. When it's about 95% done, only then should I say what content it will have.

Update

Here is an updated Brash. We tried to make him look like the portrait. He still needs some details, like a damned sword. :P Raze still needs his modifications, too. Background images have been progressing faster than characters.

Soon, there will be a game demo, featuring the only characters illustrated. :D (Okay, probably only Orchid and Brash.) I hear developers always regret publishing their funny placeholder graphics and that I shouldn't do it. It's a pity, because my Sir Jarlan is hilarious. xD

Campaign in preparation

Long time no announcement, I've been waiting for the artists (yay, I work with artists!) Things are starting to move quickly.

Here are some sample graphics for the game. Do tell me if they're not handsome and if they need to be edited!

I'm preparing for a fundraising campaign and have even auditioned some voice actors, so now Raze and Orchid have voices, at least for the campaign material. When the campaign starts, I'll make a new post here. The goals are to raise money to keep paying the graphic artists and hopefully have the game voiced, and to raise awareness of the game.

If someone wants to volunteer for voice acting, you're welcome to, as long as you can record noise free.

Thank you to those who already donated through the "coffee" button, it will be remembered :)

Before you agree to support anything, I have to say the game will not be the same as the modules.

It won't be a sex game. Now the 72% of you who said you wouldn't play this if it had no sex can give up on me. xD I haven't decided if there will be blackout sex, illustrated but only the decent parts, or none at all, but if any exists, it can only be with the main characters, and I can't even promise that much.

The Apocalypse plot will not be there. Maybe in a sequel. The game will mostly be about Orchid, Raze and Rivera. It's not like I can easily finish the module content and package it in the game. That means the game will be shorter than all the modules combined were supposed to be. It will have all the familiar places, but I'm not just copy-pasting, either. Expect some unexpected turns. And an ending.

Some characters will change personalities or appearance. Arana is getting a name change because I've grown to dislike her name.

Lastly, I'd say the first half of the game is mostly written (it took 3-4 months), and for my part, I will be able to finish the content, because this time I did not design a world ending story.

The Big Change

So, after a long wait I've decided that you guys won't eat me if I reveal what's been going on after all.

I've been busy converting Demonheart from NWN modules to a standalone game. Basically, it will be a conversation based interactive novel, illustrated by someone other than me.

Now, I expect some of you to be angry because there will be repeated content, and why won't that witch Rivera go away already...? How much fun can the demonheart girl really have in the Golden Forest replaying Chapter 1 over and over? (More fun than me rewriting it for ages, I bet. :S)

But... We have to think of the others who haven't seen Demonheart yet because they don't play NWN. Some people can't even run my modules, I don't know what's going on. Others just give me an outraged look and ask why on Earth was I making content for such an old game.

And now the peak of my honesty. I didn't know how long the development of the Demonheart modules would take. I just wanted people to see my work. These stories are a half of my life. Before the Prelude module, I didn't even know if people would like what I'm making.

I had just started college when I began serious work on the modules. So much time has passed, that getting a job has become a pressing concern for me. Out there in the real world, my job would be programming 8 hours a day for someone else. I don't think that would leave me the time or energy to do my own projects. I'd rather make my own games for a living than be locked up in some company's basement writing someone else's software. Plus, all that human contact. Maybe you've been able to guess this due to the fact that I've spent all that time coming up with alternative worlds - I am one secluded person.

In the end I'll do what I have to, but first let me try my luck with this project.

There will be changes in the plot and the game will start a little earlier than the Prelude module. I'll write more about it when there is time, but I am actively working on the game (just having doubts if I should be writing blog posts or game content).

Big thanks to the NWN community for giving me the confidence to start and keep working on Demonheart!

News

Hi everyone. I hope you're enjoying Pillars of Eternity, because I won't be done with anything soon.

I wanted to write a huge announcement, but I got reminded how announcements have only gotten me in trouble and made me feel pressure. I'm still around, doing stuff. There has been a change of plans for the Demonheart series, but I'd rather not talk about it until things are a bit more certain.

Thank you all for your interest and patience. Check back in a few months, there might be real news then. :)
