Portrait modifications...

My super awesome friend, DeadlyNinja, has helped me with Sir Brash's portrait (since my portraits are never officially finished).

Edit: I slightly modified Arana, but I'm not quite satisfied...

P. S. When are Gladiatrix 3 and Celeritas Eos coming out?

  1. Looking good Sir Brash! ;) Good job to the both of you!

Last I heard G3 was planned for the end of March and C.E was end of March/start of April though neither was set in stone. Lots of mods coming out then! :D *does happy dance*

    1. Eh, why don't they come out one by one, evenly? It will be a mess, all the mods at once :D

    2. The makers of Celeritas Eos said it'd be out early march just a week ago. I'm just happy such awesome mods are still being made for an awesome game, despite it being practically ancient. I love good old games.

In related news, G3 got set back a couple of weeks due to file corruption.

  2. I know! My saves will all be piled together in one chaotic mess! Why can't you mod-makers all get together and spread it out through the year? :P

Nah, I'm not complaining :D - though with three mods to play I feel like a kid in a candy store...where to start? @_@'

    1. I hope they won't come out in the same day, at least. Though strange things happen all the time.

I guess the other mods will be longer, since mine is only one chapter out of 5 or so.

Assuming I miraculously finish in a week, it needs at least 2 weeks of testing and proofreading. I still have some unpleasant tasks left, like making some cutscenes. -.- Making characters play animations and turn to each other when they speak. Renaming things because I at last decided on a convention for naming files (crazy). Checking consistency and taking care that I didn't leave out some talk that I wanted included. Not to mention already discovered bugs and half-finished talks. -.-

    2. That they do! Though G3 seems to be closer to completion than CE based on the websites...though all could change!

Ouch! Long list of things to do but all the little things that make a huge difference to the playing experience (and to you when it comes to working on the other modules). I actually used work as a proof-reader for a (very boring) academic journal whilst at uni and know how hard it is to review something you've already read a thousand times! Plus as you mentioned before trying to predict bugs that could occur and then finding fixes to the ones you've already found must be difficult! But all your hard work is definitely appreciated (and shows in the final product!)

P.S. If you need any help with the proof-reading side of things just ask! (I won't be offended at all if you say no but the offer's there! :D )

    3. I will ask for help if my current proofreader gets delayed. He's intimidated by a mere 60.000 words! :D Anyway, tell me if you find any mistakes in any module while playing.

  3. 60,000 words is pretty impressive! Especially for 1/5th of a module :) I think Parts 1 and 2 of ADWR were about 100,000 words each...

Anyway, good luck with the final stages! :D

  4. That is one fine looking portrait. Hopefully she could be persuaded to do the portraits for all the other characters as well!

Last I heard G3 is due in early April. I guess poor FR had a nasty computer glitch. A lot of her conversations got scrozzled and now she has to redo a bunch of them and a lot of scripting as well. So that's why that release is a bit delayed.

CE keeps teasing us with saying it's about to be released. But I guess they're still doing playtesting with it. Hopefully it'll be done soon.

I'm just glad you and all these other fine folks are still writing excellent modules for NWN!

    1. I redo things all the time :S for no technical reason. That's why I need to start releasing things, or I'll be working on chapter 1 forever.

  5. Whoa, Brash just got a little more evil looking, very alluring but evil! :)

  6. G3 is now targeted well into April. Of course, that could be a moving target. I lost close to three weeks worth of conversations/scripts when my system crashed with the toolset open. It destroyed the mod and the backup file. Like an idiot, I hadn't backed my file up since the middle of February. I'm backing up daily now.

Lamb and all other module builders, make sure you back your mod files up after any significant work. I recommend zipping and putting on dropbox. Learn from the error of my ways :)

On a side note, it is kind of cool to be in the "big three" of modules that people are waiting for.

    1. I back up when I think I've made significant changes, which is around every week when I'm working on it. I also had that unpleasant computer crash a while back, though the disc was saved... I remember how I felt, wondering if I'll have to redo everything...

Good luck to you, FR :)

  7. Sorry to hear that you have such a problems, FR. There is a free for personal use backup software that can backup files to another hard drive or usb drive based on a set schedule. Apart from that in windows server distributions (I'm not sure about windows 2008 server, but 2008 r2 has it) there is a built-in backup software which works pretty well.

  8. As for DH, it's difficult to say when exactly it will come out, because the last part of work is the most tricky. In the prelude, it wasn't very important how I handled demonheart stat bonuses and PC's death, but with a group of enemies attacking her it could be very annoying if I scripted it the wrong way. I don't even remember all the things I scripted or wrote...

Also, I forgot to save one little variable in the prelude and felt bad about it later, but decided that it won't matter in the end. I wouldn't like to miss something this time. :S

  9. How long did it take you to write more than 100K words? It took me more than 2 months to write 25K for mine, and I am exhausted already.

  10. I don't know, I've been writing DH for over 3 years, but only periodically until September 2011, when I officially got serious. I change things all the time, so a lot of my talks have gone to trash, (or to a collection of "what used to be"). I don't think I'm a fast writer anyway. I hope things will stabilize when I publish the first chapter, that I'll stop changing it!

Thirdpres must have written 20k words for DH in just a few days... Some of that is in camp, some is Arana private time, but most of it I haven't added to the count yet, as I still need to sort things out. Unfortunately, those talks face the same treatment as my own. Anything that doesn't fit with the latest version of the story (or Word of Lamb) stays behind. Writing for someone else's story is a brave thing to do. :D

    1. Oh wow! 20K words is just a few days!? Maybe I should borrow him sometime. A friend of mine does help me write some of the scenes from time to time, but he is nowhere as efficent as your. XD

    2. What are you writing, Alako? I think Thirdpres is tired of writing "surprise sex" scenes for EoTN and DH. :D Though I think there will be more of that kind of content in EoTN, since it isn't my main priority.

    3. It's just an adult text adventure game set in the future. It's my first time trying my hands on making a game, so I decided to make something relatively simple. Maybe someday I will move on to NWN instead. If you want to check it out, it just click on my profile. =]

Demo should be out in a week.

I was wondering if you weren't too heartbroken to do some testing...
